Calley Regan only wants to get through her cousin’s bridal shower without anyone discovering her secret—she’s pregnant. Her sanctimonious family would never understand. Then the one person she confides in happens to tell the incredibly handsome, but seriously uptight, sheriff, Riley Owens—who’s just given her a speeding ticket! How can she trust the brooding, inflexible lawman when he’s everything she’s not?
Riley Owens is instantly attracted to Calley Regan, but it won’t come to anything. For years, he’s lived mired in guilt, and carefree Calley is his polar opposite. But, when someone attacks Calley, Riley is determined to protect her no matter what it takes, and when her family deserts her, he takes Calley into his home. Years ago, he couldn’t save the woman he loved. He’s not about to let that happen again.

Catch Your Breath edition by Kathryn J Bain Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
This was a fantastic Christian romance with a down-to-earth message that hits home, and an OMG I-can't-believe-this-is-happening suspense plot. I couldn't put the book down! I took it to the beach and stayed too long, then hurried home and flopped across the bed to finish it. I am sunburned and starved, but I finally got to the shocking end. I loved "Breathless," the first book in this series, and I can't wait for the next one. Cheryl's story, perhaps?
Wow!! Another non stop suspense by Kathryn J. Bain.
This is the story of Calley, a cousin to Lydia from the last book and Riley, the sherrif.
Amidst all the drama and chaos we see a romance emerge.
We,also see God's love and redemption here and we are reminded that just because you go to church, you are a good Christian.
I am privileged to have received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun and exciting read that you won't want to put down. Bain creates a fun web of characters for her story to involve and fills it with suspense and romance. Although it is obviously a sequel and refers a bit to characters and events from the first book, I didn't feel lost as I read it without having read the first. Calley was a sweet and independent girl with a sense of humor that can't be quenched. Riley is a noble and strong man with few faults. Perhaps overly perfect, but he's a good character anyway. The romance is sweet and fun and makes you smile. The action and suspense brought some fun plot twists and made the story fun and exciting. Definitely one to recommend.
LOL I love it!!! From beginning to end, this story is full of wonderful moments that will make you laugh, or smile, or cry. Ms. Bain certainly knows how to wring the emotion out of her characters and make you love or hate them!
Callie is a sweetheart and you'll just want to wrap your arms around her and help her through everything she's dealing with. You can't help but want to protect her from some of the people around her from both the past and present.
And Riley, well, he's a lot more than the strong silent type. Although he's that, too. But Callie certainly brings out the best in him!
I loved the twists and turns in the story - really threw me a couple of curves. Well done!
This is a compelling story about two complicated people struggling to find their way while battling danger. Someone wants Calley dead, and Riley intends to keep her safe. There is romance, of course, but the story is full of suspense and twists. Best of all, like all of Bain's books I've read so far, it's clean of explicit language or sex. I recommend it to readers of romantic suspense. note Although it's listed as Book 2 in the Lincolnville Mystery Series, it's a stand-alone story. You don't need to read the books in order.
It's bad enough when you find out that the attractive man you've been dating got you pregnant. It's a lot worse when you find out he's been married all along...
Ms. Bain gives you two main characters, Calley and Riley, who are independent and have no plans on getting involved again. Calley is still trying to get over the rat that got her pregnant, and Riley lost his fiancé in a bank robbery and doesn't want to risk love again. This sets the stage for a lot of banter, a good batch of stubbornness and some antagonism on both sides. The author writes the dialogue realistically and makes the developing romance charming. The story begins with Calley throwing up on Riley's shoes right after he gives her a ticket for speeding. She told him he needed to let her use the bathroom, but he ignored her. He deserved it.
The murder attempts are odd. Calley has no enemies and has blown off the baby's father; she will raise the baby independently. The author writes a twisted tale that is strange enough to be true. I had no clue who the killer was until I was almost at the end of the story. Even then, I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out.
Another interesting part of the plot is how Calley is treated by her family when they find out she's pregnant. Her mother claims she's a Christian, but she doesn't act like one.
All in all, the author's words flow well, the story is interesting and the romance blossoming is sweet. I enjoyed this read. Why not try it yourself and see if you can guess the murderer sooner than I did?

A very good read. Kathyrn lets you think you've solved things but throws in enough curves to make you second guess. I have enjoyed both books. As a rookie writer I appreciate her craft.
